Area under Mazafati date cultivation in Iran and harvest time

Mazafati dates have the highest area under cultivation among Iranian dates, after Mazafati, kebab dates and other dates have the highest area under cultivation. Mazafati dates are cultivated in the southern regions of Iran. Its main production is in the south and southeast of Iran such as Bam, Kahnooj, Jiroft and cities of Sistan and Baluchestan province such as Saravan and Iranshahr.

Annually, more than one hundred thousand tons of Mazafati dates are produced in Kerman province, and since Bam is the city that produces the largest amount of Mazafati dates with the best quality, traders also call it BAM dates.

Due to the weather conditions, the harvest time of Mazafati dates is late August and early October. Due to the moist fruit and thin skin, this product can not be on top of trees for a long time, so the packaging process time should be short and fast with precise harvesting operations.

Specialized features of Mazafati dates

In agriculture, the date palm is one of the tallest fruit trees that can grow up to 25 meters in height. This date is dark purple at harvest and turns black after production and storage, it has a skin that can keep the inside of the date fresh.
The amount of moisture depending on the harvest time and the area under cultivation is from 15% to 35%. Also, the size of this date is from 3 to 5.4 cm due to the area under cultivation and different grades of the crop. Date kernels make up 6% of its weight.

As you know, dates are good for health care. Most dates are rich in nutrients, vitamins A and B and iron, potassium and phosphorus, which have many benefits for the body. In addition, fiber is another nutrient of dates that helps prevent constipation and excess acid in the stomach.

Due to its moist and sweet form, Mazafati dates should be kept at a temperature of -5 to 5 degrees Celsius to prevent spoilage. By keeping Mazafati dates in the refrigerator, these dates can be consumed for up to two years.
